A Perfect Moment

Really, it was.

If you haven't, you need to go check out Bear Creek Winery in Homer, AK. The atmosphere, the view, the people - awesome. An individual bottle is not exactly cheap, but it's just one of those things you have to close your eyes and buy...because it's worth it! By 'not cheap' I mean between $20-30 per bottle. They do, however, let you taste test from the top of the list to the bottom if you wish - sweet! They also have some fresh parmesan cheese and chocololate chips readily available to cleanse your palate. Super fun.

Most of their wines are made with locally grown ingredients - meaning you could be getting alaskan blueberries, raspberries, stawberries, rhubarb, etc. in every glass. Seriously, it's so good!

My sis and I made a quick trip to Homer while I was down at Home #2. For a Saturday it was actually quite slow inside the winery. The small cabin only sits about 10 people at a time to taste the wine...but I've seen at least 25 people in there at once and the workers were making sure everybody had a glass in hand and were tasting to their heart's desires!
We walked right up to the counter and plopped our purses down like we owned the place. We decided which wines to start with and down the hatch it went.

You'd think that it couldn't get more perfect than that...but then Elton John - Benny and the Jets came streamin' through the speakers behind us.
Growing up in my household you could have tried to NOT be an Elton John fan, but you probably would have failed.
I'm tempted to say that Elton John may be the only musical choice that everyone in my family could actually agree on anymore...?

Needless to say, there we were on a sunny, AH!mazing day in Homer, Alaska - sipping our happiness at Bear Creek Winery, listening to B-B-B-Benny and the Jets. It was the perfect moment.

  1. If it had been playing Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me...might have flipped out a little :) What a perfect day indeed -- I'm ready for another, so you can come back now :)
