There are different kinds of love, as we all know.
The feelings of love for family members, for friends, for pets, for activities, etc. are not the same. You get what I mean, right? Sometimes we take those feelings and opportunities for granted. Sometimes we get too comfortable and forget what makes life worth living.
About nine years ago I felt a kind of love that I hadn't quite experienced before. Nine years ago I was a stupid kid who lived to play basketball, get educated, and catch fish.
Then I "met" Jas.
I put that confusingly in quotations because if you know us, you know that we basically grew up in the same place and basically went to the same school together.
He is/was a grade below me, but belive it or not - I hardly knew him before our first date.
For whatever reason, we were not really even previously friends in passing, which in small town Alaska is kind of odd.
But, I suppose that's besides the point.

The point is, I needed a Homecoming date, and he was kinda cute. Kind of muscular for a sophomore in high school. Nice calves, that's for sure.
We had a mutual guy friend, and I asked him to be the middle man. The middle man asked Jas about Homecoming and being my date - and well, turned out he already had a date.
Well, also turned out it didn't take long for him to want to go with me instead. I think we can safely say today that for us, it was the luckiest change of heart ever. :)
We went to the Homecoming dance and he was nice, and cute, and I was intrigued. We started to become friends a little bit, and called each other a little bit. It didn't take too long for me to get full-fledged butterflies.

I still get those butterflies.

Twenty-five years ago today, a little man was brought into this world, and I am so thankful for that day - and for every day in the past nine years and every day in the future that he is mine. I love you, Jas, Happy Birthday! Here's a glimpse at our journey...

I hope you will take a minute to appreciate all the loves in your life - in one way or another.
