A Friday kind of Thursday

Today is my Friday. I'm heading down to Home #2 for the fifth weekend in a row, but whose keeping track. So far the summer has been jam packed with fishing, clamming, holidays, birthdays, and lots of family time. Absolutely perfect.
This Sunday is Father's Day.
I wish there were some sort of tangible 'gift' I could give my dad that could express how thankful and appreciative I am of all he has done, but in 26 years of being his daughter, all those tangible things I've gotten him (golf things, funny t-shirts, his favorite candies, basketball stuff, blah blah yada yada) just don't quite do it. And that's all fine and dandy and I'm sure he enjoys that stuff, but I've come to realize that the best thing I can give him on father's day, is a little bit of every day. Every day I am thankful for him, we talk on the phone *almost* every day, and I love him every day. I think he knows I am there for him, just like he's there for me.
Although I couldn't not get him a totally cool tangible gift, which I'll save for Sunday, I've also come up with a very short list of what makes my dad so awesome (I'm sure he could come up with a few things to add!) :) (Love you dad!)

1) He raised three daughters - and survived
2) He loves clam-digging as much as I do
3) He is tough
4) He knows what's important
5) He's confident but not cocky
6) He likes cheap wine
7) He cares about plants and birds
8) He puts up lots of Christmas lights and leaves them up year round
9) He coached the hell out of some basketball
10) He coached the hell out of me
11) He rocks out to Elton John
12) His therapy is mowing his lawn/Par 3, hitting golf balls on it, picking them up, then doing it all over again
13) He provided the sunlight, soil, and water and let us all grow
14) He keeps it real
15) He loves my mom
16) He's almost as funny as he thinks he is
17) He was always there
18) He's still there

Me, Hubs, and my dad filleting fishies!

Happy Father's Day, to my wonderful Dad and all Dads.
Cheers!
