A nice little Saturday

Hello there! Today has been a good day. My husband is working out of town for the next four or five days, and you know what they say - when the cat's away the mice will play!
Haha, really, I'm quite boring, but luckily my younger sister, Krista, is in town! This morning she came over at 8:30 to have coffee with me. We watched some of the Harry Potter marathon that is playing on ABC Family all weekend. We then went for a hike up to Flattop Mountain - for those of you who may not know,  Flattop Mountain is a 3,510-foot mountain located in the Chugach State Park here in Anchorage. It's the most climbed mountain in the state; however, this morning was pretty slow and my crazy girls got to be off leash and go nuts! (I admit we didn't go to the top - but we went high enough for our ears to pop!) There's still a bit of snow up there but it was quite hot - especially for those of us a wee bit out of shape...! (See photos below from the hike.)

My pups and I sunbathed on the deck for a while when we got home, and I got caught up on my magazines. Is it just me or does reading before bed make anyone else SUPER sleepy? I usually get a couple of paragraphs in before I'm doing the head-bob and I'm pretty sure none of it is retained so I usually try to re-read my reading on the weekends. If the sun is out it's even better! My pale white halibut skin actually got some vitamin D today. Score.

My sis came back around 4:00 p.m. and we decided to go for an early dinner - we went to FireTap Alehouse and shared a salad and antipasto plate, which completely hit the spot. Not to mention we each got a beer sampler - four, 2-oz picks of your choice for $4.50...that also hit the spot. The winning sample for the day was Sleeping Lady Fish-On! (an IPA) - we recommend it if you're into that sort of thing!

The Oklahoma City/Dallas game is on now, I'm listening to Michael Buble' in the background, and my sis will be back later to watch Grumpy Old Men & Saturday NightLive if either of us make it that long.

It was also a shorts & t-shirt day, which in May is exciting all by itself.

I miss my hubs, but every summer we test the theory that absence makes the heart grow fonder. And every summer it's true.

And really, sometimes, it's good to be alone for a bit. And really, at other times, it's good to have a girls night.

It's been a beautiful day here in the AK, and the night is young. So, here's to couple's nights, girl's nights, and night's spent alone - Cheers!

How was your Saturday?
