Cup-A-Joe

I love coffee. I think I started drinking it when I turned 16 and realized it wasn't going to stunt my growth because I was already done growing - as much as I wished I wasn't. So, why not - it kinda seemed cool to carry around one of those white paper cups with the sleeve on it, too.

As my coffee cherry popped and the downward spiral of drinking coffee began, I was really only into lattes, mochas, frappaccinos, iced coffees, basically anything except good ol' plain brewed coffee. Now, I love me a cup of fresh brewed. I'm picky about the cup too. Isn't it amazing how our minds work? ("it's not going to taste the same if it's not in my special cup...") And why is it that coffee always tastes better when someone else makes it? It's a mystery.

By downward spiral, I only mean that once you're a coffee drinker, you're in it for life. I don't have a problem with that notion. I think about my morning cup of coffee before I go to bed at night, that's just the way it is. Life could be worse! C'mon now.

This little deliciously aromatic addiction of mine has rubbed off on my husband, which officially completes my family circle of coffee drinking fools. He tried, oh he tried for a long long time to stay away from the stuff. And he did until about a year and a half ago. He even tried to get me to stop (how dare he?!) But even the strongest cannot conquer Mr. Cup-A-Joe.

Can hardly stand it black though. Which makes me believe maybe I am more of a coffee creamer addict than anything!? I love my creamer, especially around the holidays. Peppermint mocha creamer rocks my socks off - and is now available all year round! What luck! You can usually find at least three different creamers in my frige at one time. Another go-to flavor is White Chocolate Macadamia Nut. MMMMmmmmmm.

Oh, and what about this: "We should grab a cup of coffee sometime." How many times have you heard that one, and how many times are you instantly like, "Yes please! that sounds great!" This is one of my favorite statements in the whole world! I think a person is at their best while drinking a cup of coffee with a friend.

One of my favorite blends is Silverhook - Kodiak blend. It's an Alaskan brand, give it a try if you have the chance.

What's your coffee brand and drink of choice?

I still enjoy a white chocolate mocha now and again - in fact, I treated myself to one this morning. But maybe because I'm getting frugal or because I'm getting all sophisticated with age...I have to admit I prefer making my own, smelling and hearing it brew in the kitchen, and anticipating that first sip. Yummy.

I would love to hear about your coffee traditions and concoctions.

Love in a cup
