The soundtrack to my youth

Some of you might lift a brow at my choice in tunes. Not because they're bad - because they are the opposite of that...! But because I'm kinda old school. I actually really enjoy MOST genres. Depending on the mood I could chill to jazz, get pumped with some hip hop, clean house to some coffee shop tunes, nod my head to some rock and roll. or plug away at work to some oldies. Whatever your fancy, I'm sure you'd agree that music just makes it better (insert whatever you want into "it.")

Both of my parents were and are music lovers. They both have great voices, of which I inherited none of, dang it anyway, and they both enjoy having music on all the time, like volume 5,000 none the less. I grew up with that atmosphere, and it affected me whether I realized it at the time or not. As a product of the 80's, I am partial. But I do like taking it all the way back to the 60's & 70's, especially if we are talkin classic rock.

I have tons of memories that are linked to songs - don't you? And I thoroughly enjoy that moment when a song comes on, no matter where you are, and you stop and listen for a second and can't help but crack a smile.

Anyways, I have been compiling a list of songs that I believe will always feel timeless to me... here is it:
  1. Hungry Eyes - Eric Carmen
  2. Rocket Man - Elton John
  3. Edge of Seventeen - Fleetwood Mac
  4. Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac
  5. She's got a way - Billy Joel
  6. Have you ever seen the rain - CCR
  7. Alone - Heart
  8. Billy Jean - MJ
  9. Dirty Diana - MJ
  10. Waiting for a girl like you - Foreigner
  11. Don't stop believin - Journey
  12. Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd
  13. I want to know what love is - Foreigner
  14. Blinded by the light - Manfred Mann's Earth Band
  15. Happy Together - The Turtles
  16. Light my Fire - The Doors
  17. Sweet Emotion - Aerosmith

In the meantime, put on your favorite song, blast it for the world to hear, and make yourself smile. Have a wonderful trashy Tuesday! (inside joke - Tuesday is my garbage day.) Cheers!

  1. Love them all! (you know Rhiannon is about me, right? Brieanna...Brieanna)
Can't believe you completely dissed Ace of Base. And Wilson Phillips. And COOLIO! Haha I love our 'bad' taste in music also...
...and Wanda sends her love... And I do too :)

  2. @BrieHA! And yes, I always thought that song was about you!
Omg you're right. And I actually thought I had Ace of Base on there. I think I was throwing back further than those bands. :)
